Another great story by Stephanie Perkins! A lot of people liked Lola better than Anna, and while I liked Cricket, my vote goes to St. Claire ;)

Banks always presents a great mix of big original ideas, good story-telling, and a sense of consistent detail to makes the read exciting and different without seeming fanciful. Windward has a few great characters, one is a being that you could easily befriend and certainly respect even though he is seeking revenge at an unimaginable scale. Other characters are much more alien in thought but Banks still makes them approachable. It seems he has his real fun when describing future tech and laying out intricate sets. Allusions to epic battles, moral and ethical dilemmas, time measured in galactic rotations, tech on the grandest and minutest of scales, it’s all there and more. Banks makes you feel like he is letting you see through the asymptote.
