** spoiler alert ** My mother read me this book, then I had to read it in 5th grade. Since then I have read it many more times. There is something so magical about this book. Perhaps it is the Island, or the girl. All I know is that I fell in love with this book when I was a little girl, and since then I have had many dreams of living alone on an island. This is a great book for learning the meaning of friendship, and death.
