Jean Waterman and her daughter and ill young son come west to Utah in 1954, hoping for fresh desert air, an unforgettable vacation and maybe some extra money through uranium mining. Utah offers an offbeat cast of characters: Miss Dazzle, the motel owner, Vincent Flaherty, the slick con man, Jimmy Splendid, the American Indian lawman, and kindly Harry Lindstrom, the formerly-Mormon salesman who steals Jean’s heart. Though it’s not packed with action, the stories of this quirky bunch are quietly affecting. In the end, this is a sweet and poignant tale of people trying to trade anxiety for hope and find the answers to their dreams.

I claimed I didn't like poetry until my ex-bf made me read this. It's a fantastic epic poem about several couples (one gay, I think) in modern(ish) day San Francisco. Seth has an incredible and enviable vocabulary and, to bank on that cliche, he makes writing verse seem easy.
