This cartoonish graphic novel is a fun adventure. The four recently orphaned characters take up the mantle of their parents and begin their own chapter of the New Brighton Archeological Society. A camping trip in the woods leads them on a new and exciting mission, and I can't wait to see what is in store next for the group. Children ages six to ten will especially like the fast-pace and supernatural characters.

A great book on leadership. But don't plow through it. Put it in your bathroom and read no more than one "leadership proverb" a day. Let it sink in.

This book apparently was started by the author's husband, who died before he could complete it. Myers finished it, but I think it needed a LOT of editorial work. The suspense, the feeling of impending danger/doom, just isn't there, and it should be, as the Galveston hurricane of 1900 killed thousands of people. Descriptions of rising water, for example, are not accompanied by descriptions of rain and wind, wind whipping the waves, blowing against the house, drowning out their words, maybe blowing in a window, until the last couple of chapters. When the children, Sister Genevieve, and Myra are huddled in the house, Maggie and Felipe whisper to each other, "breaking the silence"--during a hurricane?? Very disappointing.
