Okay, I got her point and all, and I get she's from Communist Russia and for her community was kind of like reading for most kids: you get forced into this skewed version and suddenly you hate all of it but if you ask me the book is just "Eh". I think she goes to an extreme with the whole thing and I think she's got a lot of nerve equating her main character to Prometheus. If you ask me, he wasn't a hero, and she makes him out to be one. Plus, its poorly written, there's no emotion and a satire about freedom needs emotion. All-in-all, I disagree with Rand, I feel like sometimes it is necessary to give up what you want or possibly even need for you fellow man although I do agree that every person has the right to do for themselves over others and not be called "selfish.

Fascinating portait of the life and mind of an irascible and original founding father. McCullough is clearly enamored, he draws out Adams' final years in near real time, and the first 40 or so pages, drag, but you get to know Adams so well it is worth it.

Definitely a striking and razor-edged thriller. Heavy on the science fiction, lots of futuristic technology (automated pizza delivery systems, alternate digital world people "visit", and other cool concepts) and an intriguing look at human development (a bit of a historic angle to parts), and a bold and complex world with lots of details thought out and woven well into the storyline. I also loved it for its computer/tech references, i admit to enjoying being a computer geek, but its not so much that it over burdens the story for those who might not know or care-- it just adds that extra level of fascination in my opinion. Also i really liked the two main characters, their personalities and quirks. A clever, imaginative and exciting book. The futuristic world the author creates was believable and realistic but still filled with lots of cool new gadgets and adaptations. Plan on reading another of his books down the line.
