Peculiarly compelling but, in the end, deeply juvenile book. Characters are mere ciphers for Author's comments, the dialogue is laughable, simply Author's voice in inverted commas and the sex scenes are prolific but unreal, non human (but perhaps this is his point). There is no drama, you care not one jot what happens to the characters and its not (despite what the reviews tellyou) funny. But its a novel of ideas and i cant deny that it made me think, some of his opinions are undeniably fascinating and it has sparked a reaction. However, thinking about it, none of his ideas stack up, its all distraction, misanthropy and pontification, for a novel of ideas it doesnt convince, its all fuzzy logic and ridiculous generalisations. But will appeal to teenage nihilists...life's just all shit and then we die...
