I read this several years ago and remember liking it but not finding it to be brilliant literature. Certainly an interesting premise and a book to steer clear of if you are currently pregnant or about to becoem pregnant. The book is written in the adult voice of Connie, the Midwife's daughter, who was 14 at the time the events of the book happen. Through this lens we are told a tale of her mother, Sibyl Danforth, a lay midwife, who goes on trial when one of her home births goes terribly wrong. I won't leave spoilers here but suffice it to say, it left me wondering how much young Connie really remembers, what she really saw and what over the passage of time has become warped. The book moves swiftly and holds the reader's attention.

I really enjoyed this book and will read the rest of this series. The writing has a very nice flow to it even when talking about day to day things. I have not read much about Genghis Khann so I learned alot with out feeling like I was trying too. I will pass this book onto my brother since I'm sure he will really enjoy it also.

Carter finally gets it is about a freshman in high school trying to figure out who he is. Carter goes through many different problems and obstacles in his first year of high school. I liked this book because even though the main character is a lot younger than me, it was not hard to understand his points of views and the book had a lot of humor in it.Instead of having a specific problem throughout the entire book, this book has many. At times it gets boring and kind of slows down, but its not hard to read, because it picks up again. Very entertaining.
