This novel jumps right into the action, wasting no time to build up the story. The novel is structured like a military tactics book. The author provides a lot of description of the starship battles: maneuvers, group formations, that sort of thing. Such extensive description could run the risk of losing the reader's interest, but I found the author did a very good job of building momentum during such scenes. I enjoyed it. A lot of politics come into play in the story. Although the Alliance fleet is trying to get back home and is under constant threat of attack, all is not well within the fleet and there are those who have their own agendas. They are willing to put their needs and desires above the welfare of the entire fleet. I definite recommend, especially to those who like military type stories.

This was a wonderful story. I haven't read many versions of the 1001 Arabian Nights, but lately I have. This is a great one. I like the series that this book belongs too.
