"The Hidden Persuaders" tells of the early days of motivational research and public relations, using stories from both private industry and public life. Most of what Packard discusses about the advertising industry is probably already known to everybody, on some level; but it's amazing to read the details of famous campaigns and agencies.

Though subsequent chapters aren't as funny as the first would lead you to believe, it's still an amazing book dealing with life, love and which stories we pass on.
