Another "classic " novel and one I have read again and again, the earlier chapters, eg, Gateshead Hall and Lowood live on in the mind long after you have finished reading. I would reccommend this to anyone who ls interested in the Victorian era.

Terribly long and draining. You may have to love the protagonist to like the book, and I couldn't really stomach her or Dreiser's "naturalist" style.

I'm currentyly read this book and I think Becky looks more mature in this book (maybe only in this book). Her problem is not about bills again but it just about making a decision which can make everybody happy. but somehow it seems a little boring compared to the earlier books. but still, I like these story :)

I remember that when I read it I thought it was the best book in all the world. Well you know, young age. In all together I think it's a fascinating story.

A perfect novel! I loved Crime and Punishment, but I feel The Stranger said the same thing in fewer words, which I feel (perhaps because of Strunk and White) is a virtue. Perfect.
