I had read this book many years ago, not realizing the Bill Ransom and Frank Herbert used the foundation of Destination Void. And my reading was before I realized that we are children of God. From this perspective, it is a VERY different book. Challenging and intriguing. In a way, I'm sorry that Dune was such a huge success--that glory overshadows Frank Herbert's and Bill Ransom's contribution to what it means to be human and a child of God. On to the other two in the 'pandora' trilogy.
