It took me a little while to make it through this book...Camilla seemed so sad always, and to have such a depressing life (and so did the people around her), that it wasn't a very joyful book and not the most fun to read. (And most of the characters annoyed me, especially her parents!! I wanted to pull my hair out. Even still, though, the author managed to make both of Camilla's parents sympathetic in some ways.) But as always, I love Madeline L'Engle's superb writing skill and it was great to read one of her earlier books that I hadn't read yet. I did enjoy seeing the growth Camilla went through in a week's time, and enjoyed her budding relationship with Frank.

read this book as a small girl and fell in love with it (predictably).... its on my list of books to re-buy...
