Quite possibly my favorite book ever. This was the third time I'd read it. It's just so sad and beautiful.

It was one of the best books, I have read in the last 7 years, one of the best new books for sure. I keep coming back to it, to re-read over and over, and have recommended it to all of my friends, the characters are strong and poetic, the setting is so meticulously evoked, the stories are just plain fascinating....

I agree with a lot of the other reviews I've read about this book. The beginning was good, but toward the middle, things got muddled. I never expected the story to end up where it did. Though I love Lamb's writing, it seemed like he was trying too hard to connect too many themes and events. Overall, I'm glad I read it, but it could've been about 200 pages shorter.
