When I was in high school I tore through Vonnegut's books, marveling at his genius. I haven't returned to reread them and see if they hold up, but did decide to pick this up. It reminded me of hanging out with an old cranky man -- there are bits that are poignant and genuinely funny (his idea for a frightening reality show -- C Students From Yale) and bits that are just, well, cranky. Still, you've got to love the chain-smoking humanist who idolizes Eugene Debs. Right?
