I love the world created in the Black Jewels Trilogy by Bishop. Not only does this book explore the continuing dynamics and journey of Janelle, Daemon, and Saeton (my all time favorite characters) but I was equally invested in the new characters. In this book you learn how a true court is formed and learn that despite the fact that Janelle had some sparkly jewels and some impressive powers a Queen's true strength is not dependent on the darkness of her Jewel. Bishop makes her women beautiful by focusing on their strengths and not their outer beauty.

I wouldn't say that this was one of my favourite books ever, BUT there are some amazing legal arguments. This book was one of the reasons I wanted to become a lawyer when I was a teenager (thankfully I never became one), so I would recommend it.
