This book spoke to me as a high school senior the way no other book had. I have re-read it twice since and always expect to be disappointed in it, that it won't be as good as I remembered, but instead, it always impresses me in a new way.
Inspires one to really fly!
How could you not love a book about a woman who loves roses who finds herself as the high priestess to Hecate and in charge of bring the Realm of the Roses back to life. Mikado Empousai is named after a rose, the Mikado rose, but everyone calls her Mikki. She has no idea that her last name is the official title of the priestess of the Realm of the Roses. Nor does she know that the blood she adds to the water with which she uses to nurture her roses stems from a tradition in the Realm. Erotic dreams about a man beast (think Beauty and the Beast)become real when she inadvertently brings him to life in the rose gardens in Tulsa, OK and he wisks her to the Realm. There is begins to heal the roses with fertilizer and other human knowledge she has of nurturing a rose garden but she does not know that she holds the key to future of the Realm and the dreams we humans in the mundane world dream. For they are woven in the Realm of the Roses. Love this series. One more to go and am waiting for it from the library.
Hm, this book sucked. why is it so popular!?
