Definitely not my favorite Saramago. But I still love him.

I have to admit I bought this book initially because Johnny Depp :P not only highly recommended it as a read, but hoped to make a movie out of it. Yes, I'm easily swayed for the wrong reasons. But it's a good read and gives you good insight into India and the way of life there among the poor and the unlawful. I recommend it.
