Weir is such a master of biographies. Elizabeth I was so well-researched and well-written that it's hard not to take every word of it as fact. However, you have to assume that there are some elements of the author's opinion as well. Weir's attention to detail and and story-telling ability makes the book enjoyable so that you don't feel like you're reading an endless history textbook. If you've never read a book on Elizabeth I, this is a great place to start.

I was not very impressed by this book. The characters seem really forced into their roles. I think Gaimon's story has a hard time holding up when all these familiar heroes are shoe-horned into the story. Less characters would have left more story. I still give three stars based on a good effort and great art.
