This book is mainly a coming-of-age story, told from the perspective of a 13 year old boy named Toby. When Zachary Beaver(dubbed the fattest kid in the world) arrives in the small town of Antler Texas, it's the most exciting thing that has ever happened to Toby - or anyone else in Antler for that matter. This book had a hard time keeping my attention, but I'm sure it's a better fit for teenage boys.

4.5 stars! Yay for Tessa Dare! (1) Great story! I'm not sure about the setup. It's hard for me to reason why Sophia would board a ship for Tortola. I get that she wanted adventure and to find love... but go to Italy or something! Why a tiny island in the West Indies? And why would she pose as a governess? What's she gonna do when she gets there? And how did she know to look for Captain Grayson? Where'd she get his name from? Was it just because his ship was named "Aphrodite"? (2) But once they're aboard? Smooth sailing! (Figuratively speaking... the sea was actually quite choppy at times...) I love that Gray is trying to reform himself and that he tries his utmost to keep his promise to his brother. He does pretty dang good!! Especially since she's like a siren put there to tempt him... or whatever... (3) I love Sophia's interactions with the crew members, especially the Cook and Davy. I love that she sketches all of them and that Gray gets jealous of that. (4) I love that once he realizes that she's been misrepresenting herself (fake name/occupation), he gets over it quickly (relatively speaking) and falls in love with her no matter what her name is, even thinking she's a thief. (5) It was dumb that she "left" him... Sure, it was "noble" or whatever, but she should have just told him the truth and let him decide whether or not it was worth it. Seriously. (It did make for a really romantic ending though!) Overall, it was totally cute! Sophia and Gray are a great couple!!
