I have to say I was skeptical when I opened this book, but the story drew me in right away. I love how the author examines religion very logically because I too have a problem with blind adherence. I also agree with the message that it matters very little what miracles 'God' performs, what really matters is the message he put forth and that is what we should take away with us. I completely believe most religious events were created as a political ploy and for a lot of people it's much easier to simply believe rather than question. I really like Punjeeh's character. It really is a shame how much violence religion causes and I hate religious arguments because I don't think people realize how ridiculous they sound when they say things like, "But God promised me this land." I think the Gnostics had a beautiful message and it's sad that people can't look at religion academically and realize that we need to be more than sheep. I am surprised by how much I enjoyed this book and I recommend to anyone willing to give it a chance with an open mind.

A great series, definitely better than the Harry Potter books. A great combination of very serious religious issues brought up along with fantastic adventures (and talking bears). If there was ever a group of books that had something for everyone, this is it.
