Shashank Redemption-ish. This memoir details the life of a man who claims to have been wrongly convicted of murder in France and sentenced to life in a French Guiana penal colony. He spends 13 years planning and executing various successful and unsuccessful escapes.
This one veered all over the place, with Rick alternating between savior, crazed lawman, hero, and dead man, but it continues to pour out emotion and tension. The book's been around forever, it seems, and keeps changing its setting a surrounding characters every other book, but it doesn't feel formulaic or repetitive in the least.
So good.
