** spoiler alert ** Newbery Honor 1959 lexile 680 grade 3-4 Set in Paris. A hobo named Armand finds a widow and three children living in his spot under the bridge. He takes the children to meet Father Christmas at a department store while the mother is at work. The children ask for a house. When two rich ladies threaten to put the children in an home (orphanage?), Armand takes his "family" to live with his friends the gypsies. After the gypsies leave, Armand finds a job as a caretaker that comes with a place for his "family" to live.

I don't want to rate the book too low, as it had some fantastic prose, but after the the intro, I was pretty lost regarding the plot. I couldn't give much of a summary after finishing, partly my fault, but overall this was an underwhelming work.
