I first picked out this book for my daughter as I thought she would enjoy it. One day, in need of an audiobook, I downloaded this title, began to listen and was hooked. Ingrid is a great character and what I would like to think is a realistic example of many young girls - in terms of her innocence, curiosity, honesty and ambition. It was quite a convoluted tale and while some things were obvious from the beginning it played out somewhat different in the end. My husband tried to follow along as my daughter and I discussed all of the characters and their eventual roles in the story and was totally lost but for a lover of mystery, it was a great tale.

This is a fascinating true account of three generations of women living in China. I read this book a long time ago but I thought I should add it in here as a broader view of China than the last book I reviewed, "Foreign babes in Beijing." I know absolutely nothing about China so I cannot attest to the accuracy of "Wild Swans" but it was truly fascinating to read.
