This is a poignant story of a man who fought for Britain in WWI. It begins before the war when he is working in Amiens and living with a family. He falls in love with the wife of his host. It jumps to the war with graphic descriptions of the men fighting in the trenches and tunneling underground. Later, his granddaughter is trying to find out more about her grandfather.
