i liked the kiterunner better... this does empower women-and i liked that.

I thought this book was super interesting and different from many books I have read before. I struggled with the narrator at times and definitely lost a little something in the spanish, but overall really liked the storyline and the writing.

Would have gotten 5 stars if it hadn't left me in such a bad mood, although the impact it has on the reader is outstanding. A collection of short stories about unpleasant people and even more unpleasant situations, that's the best way to describe it. O'Connor wrote with the bitterness and derisive humor of an embittered female stand-up comic, but managed to somehow eke out a small space in each tale for seriousness. Or at least make one feel the weight of what was at stake. Thanks to Rachel for the book!
