Her descriptions of food makes my mouth water, but over all I thought the book was a bit slow. There is no real story line, just a collection of memories told in chronological order.
How could I not be attracted to a book about a "Papessa" (lady pope)? The writing is a bit breathless and I question whether some of the conclusions are just extrapolitions. But this is basically "Pulp Fiction" of the 17th Century Vatican. Can't really recommend it much though.
I really felt Julia Child's voice throughout this book. I've been a fan of hers for years (from her early days on PBS) and she still is an inspiration to me. I very much enjoyed reading this book.
