This book is absolutely a beautiful portrayal of the Greek Gods at their best. It is set in modern time London where 12 of the original gods live in a tiny, cramped townhouse, dirty and unkempt. Each of the originals have their power, albeit limited because they are getting older and although the world doesn't look up to them anymore, they are desperately needed to keep it turning. Aphrodite (a sex phone operator), Artemis (a dog walker), and Apollo (a TV psychic/medium), along with all the others must find a way to increase their power and regain themselves before time runs out, all with the help of a unwitting cleaner and her would-be boyfriend. This book is fabulous laugh-out-loud comic genius with a brave look at why we are the way we are as a human race. Highly recommended. Rated R for language and sexual themes.

Initially, I thought the people in Olive's town were miserable, but they didn't know it. I also thought that Olive herself was a crabby teacher with no friends. It was doubtful that her husband even liked her or just tolerated her or just was not otherwise motivated to change his life. it's a series of short stories that Olive floats through to some degree or other. I have to say, however, that by the time I got to the end, I was brought in, and there was lots to ponder. Olive meant well, and didn't realize the effect her actions and attitudes had on others.

Pretty good read!!! It truly was an introduction into the world of the Fae. It seemed like a combination between Janet Evanovich and Paranormal mystery. I like this combination. It left me a few questions that I am guessing will be answered in the next novels. It sparked my interest to want to read the remaining novels. I would recommend it to other Paranormal or the unexplain fans.
