This is such an accurate book for this time of my life, but the ideas are definitely presented in a more complex way than in the other Buddhist book I have on my list. Thus, I can only read a page or several pages of this book before I have to set it down to let the ideas absorb into my mind and begin to understand them. I'm still reading this every so often, page by page, for 9 months now! Going on a loonnggg time for this book, but whenever I pick it up, it seems to be at just the right place for what I'm experiencing.

It gives a good account of what Egypt was like under British colonial rule around 1900 and also has some interesting information in it regarding the Zionist movement in Palestine. I really enjoyed reading it and found the plot to be very enjoyable. The title makes it seem as though it's just a romance novel, but it really is so much more..
