Couldn't finish the darn thing. I guess this genre is not my thing. After 550 pages I was still hoping for it to get better.

I read this book during one of my many existential crises in college. These basically consisted of my coming home physically and emotionally exhausted from finals, lounging on my parents couch, and reading two or three Herman Hesse books in a row… until my dad took them away. This book is beautiful and painful. I loved it.
