the heartwarming story of a boy who loves horses

I would like to give this a better rating because there are so many great qualities in this novel, but the amount of detail and obsessiveness over small events bogged this book down and made it really hard to read at points. It seemed to wander and get dragged down in its own language and precision. That aside, this is a beautiful novel that is tragic and disgusting and funny and everything in between. I enjoyed reading this and understand why it is considered a classic in some circles but ultimately found it to be too heavy and wordy on details that were meaningless.
