How ordinary our lives are, and how miraculous!

My dad showed us this movie when I was about 10 maybe? I remember Heather and I being so upset at him for letting us watch it - it was heartbreaking. Especially for a ten-year-old who wanted nothing more in the world than a pet dog - had been begging for one for years. Heather and I remember specifically thinking that Dad had failed as a parent by letting us watch it. I read it a couple of years ago - and I guess I can count myself lucky that dad only showed us the movie rather than reading us the book. It was truly painful. Well written, good, sad story.

It is fun to read and great to develop a love of poetry, especially in children.
