A slightly different flavour to Havemercy, but no less enjoyable for that.

This book is about a selfish girl named Mary Lennox who moves from India to London. She moves because a deadly disease killed her family in India and all she has left is an uncle who lives in London. When she first moves in with her uncle, she is not excited because she thinks it is a dreary place with gray skies and not appealing. In the first couple days, she meets some of the people who work at her uncle's manor. She also meets a red robin who shows her the key to The Secret Garden, a garden that her uncle locked up ten years ago when his wife died of a tragic accident. This garden is what unlocks the whole book. Without the garden, Mary would have stayed a selfish girl. Because of the garden, she meets new people and becomes friends with them. The garden is also how she helps fix the relationship between her uncle and her cousin. Usually, I like books where the main character is like me and likes to do the same things that I like. The Secret Garden was different in a good way because I couldn't completely relate to the main character or other characters in the book. Even though I couldn't relate to the characters, I thought the story was very interesting. The weather played a big part in the book because the story takes place in London. Most of the time in London, the weather is unpleasant. It rains a lot. Mary is not used to all the rain and she does not like it. But without the rain, there would be no garden and no story.
