It does run in families. Interesting, confronting and ultimately very sad.

Ah, the only thing that keeps this one from a perfect five star rating is the ending. I think, for once (amazingly) the movie did a better job of the book in that respect. I don't see how the Count can end up with anyone but Mercedes after all he's been through for/with/because of her. I love the plot though, all the twists and amazing revelations. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. And the characters are quite classic. I'm glad Mercedes has a bit of a backbone. Just a little snippet of a review for now... it's been a while since I've read it.
