This was my favorite book growing up I must have read it a billion times over.

I enjoyed this Sedaris more than "Naked". Similar feelings of extreme laughter than slight unease.

One of the sadder books I have read recently, but also incredibly powerful. The writing is sparse, efficient, and both the style and themes remind me of David Guterson, the author of 'Snow Falling on Ceders' and 'East of the Mountains.' I loved the Norwegian setting and how the story slowly revealed itself over generations. The author did a wonderful job of evoking emotion with so few words. Caution for horse lovers: this story does NOT have anything to do with horses.
