The book is an inspiring account of two men attempting to hike the Appalachian trail. I learned a lot from their struggles and it has motivated me to want to go backpacking more. The author, Bill Bryson, also includes relevant facts about the wilderness, forest service, etc. when appropriate. This book is a must read for anyone who loves the outdoors.
