We all really enjoyed this book. Although we had read a few other Benjamin Franklin books before this, we still found some new things about him. Fritz is a concise but fun writer with a bit of a sarcastic streak here and there. It certainly held my boys' attention. A good addition to an elementary study of Franklin's life and accomplishments.

The fact that the book had already won the Mann Booker prize by the time I heard about it probably prejudiced me in favor of it. Knowing that the author is Indian and that the book was based in India peeked my interest. This is an entertaining, sharply written, worthwhile read. For those with preconceived negative impressions of India, it will seem to substantiate their views. For those with a more realistic, there's no such thing as a perfect place kind of view, it will come as an assertion of that belief. There is little hype, little over-dramatization or pandering to non-Indian readers. I would certainly recommend this to any one looking for an interesting, funny because it's true but not a "real life drama" type of book.
