This was differently interesting from book 1. Book 1 had a lot of worldbuilding whereas book 2 had more character building. It was a more complex story but I thought it moved faster. I also liked that Sanderson wasn't afraid to kill people that we knew and liked. Elend has the throne but does he know what to do with it? His own brilliance in putting together the legislature (the assembly) gets him deposed by his own laws. But is a crown the only thing that makes a king? I look forward to book 3.

This is one of my favorite books. I laughed, I cried and I changed my way of thinking. If you will read only one book in your life, read this.
