Wonderfully mean-spirited with dead-on characterizations and a plot that seemed all too possible.
Chandra’s magnum opus is a fictional counterpart to Suketu Mehta’s brilliant Maximum City. Here is Bombay, gloriously drenched in blood, sex, and bullets. Here is Mumbai, with its racial tensions, casual corruption, numbing bureaucracy, and its beautiful, soulful people. Chandra’s ability to create moments of striking poetry amidst a thrilling narrative makes for a masterwork of modern fiction.
I don't know too much about this time period (did I somehow miss this in school?), but from what I understand, this book is not entirely historically accurate. However, it's an enjoyable read - some drama and romance with a few beheadings thrown into the mix. I'm definitely curious to read more of Gregory's books.
A very thorough and detailed look about how to ease your mind. I will be incorporating some pieces of this into my life, but probably not all of them.
