Görünüşe göre Lewis'in kurgu hayranı değilim. Bu uzay üçlemesi ilginçtir ve (benim gibi) çok fazla bilimkurgu okumayanlara yeni bir tür açar, ancak yazı biraz olgunlaşmamış gibi görünür.

I was sniffing around for guilty pleasures to read, avoiding the hundred or so other books on my to read list, when I decided to pick up the first book in Jim Butcher's Codex Alera series. I had recently finished the first book in his urban fantasy series starring Harry Dresden, and wondered if the Codex Alera books would be any good. I hadn't scratched my fat(ish, in this case) fantasy book itch in a while, so this was rather a pleasant surprise. Jim Butcher's foray into fantasy contains much better, more mature writing and storytelling than Storm Front, and is definitely action-packed. This is definitely not high literature, but it's a fun romp in an interesting setting based on an impudent fan's challenge for Butcher to write a story combining the ideas of Ancient Rome and Pokemon. Considering how poor of a story that it seems like those two subjects would make together, Butcher succeeds quite well. P.S. I must say, that I somewhat rolled my eyes while reading some of the book since Tavi and Kitai's adventure in the wax forest, as well as the neverending siege of Garrison reminded my distinctly of Tolkein's The Two Towers.
