Short and sweet. This book is classic Vonnegut. Originally a collection of radio shorts for WNYC, Vonnegut turns his unmatched wit on the afterlife and moral living. Highly recommended.
The Dar Tower series is a little harder to get into than King's usual books. Still a great read, just a different vein.
To be honest I felt like I'd read a lot of this already, and I think I'm far more in the mood for narrative at the moment than for the kinds of discussions dominating this book. I did like a few of the pieces a lot, though, especially the descriptive and as I said narrative pieces. Made me think of the representations of butch and femme identities I'd like to see in more media. Also, Ivan Coyote is hot in print.
I love MFK Fisher, and this slight volume is a wonderful collection of essays highlighting the healing powers of food within Fisher's memory, and the historical records of the benefits of various "receipts" (that's recipes for anyone not versed in 15th century vernacular). It's lovely, extremely interesting, and a small but wonderful morsel to put on one's bookshelf.
