yeah, I read them. They make for a good story, overall. I learned a lot I wouldn't have known from just the movies. Frodo is not such a weakling, for one. Sometimes the writing felt drawn out, but that's what books do and I get tired of scenery descriptions. My favorite was the third one.. mostly because of Eowyn and her budding romance. In conclusion, who doesn't like Tom Bombadil?
