Seyahat edebiyatından hoşlanıyorsanız, Bruce Chatwin'in Patagonya'sını sevmeniz gerekiyor, ancak neden olduğundan emin değilim. Pico Iyre'in Bruce Chatwin'in eşyalarını sevmediğini biliyorum ve ben de sevmiyorum.

I never was one to fall for hype over a book. I usually avoided the books that got all the attention because none of my tastes were mainstream. However, I got older and didn't mind trying some stuff on for size. Anne Frank is the real diary of a real girl who is so just a girl and so forced into terrible circumstances. This book reminds us all of our humanity, as boring, small minded, bored, and terrified as we can be at times. We need this book in our general consciousness! Not just a chapter in an assignment, but the entire book. It reminds us that the 'others' around us are just more of 'us'. It reminds us of how easily evil can take over, and the individual suffering that can happen. It serves as a humanizing influence in a world where so many want to divide us by race (What race are we, anyway? The Human Race!), gender, class, beleif system, etc. Someone wants to divide us to conquer us. This book can serve as resistance to evil even today.

I think Jonathan Safron Foer (sp?)is greatly overrated. I felt like he was constantly saying, "ooh, aren't i smart, isn't that clever? do you like that?" he was too close to his material somehow. I also felt compelled after reading this to do some writing of my own. His voice is being heard, now, where's a voice that i feel speaks for me, for my experience. hopefully that will yet happen! tt

This book was classic Grisham. There are pieces that feel like previous novels he has written but on the whole it was the fast paced legal thriller that I have come to look for from John Grisham. Something that doesn't make me think too hard :)
