Bir ilişkinin yolunu takip eden çok ilginç, tatlı, eğlenceli bir roman, her ne kadar insanların nasıl bir araya geldikleri ve neden aşık oldukları ve nasıl / neden ayrıldıkları incelenirken, felsefe eğlenceli parçaları da dahil. Bu eğlendiren ve asla aşırıya kaçma gibi hissetmeyen bir ilişkinin diseksiyonu. Tam kararında. Çok güzel, hızlı bir okuma.

Bu kitap son derece "açık" ama ortalama bir tür değil. Seks sahneleri aslında konuya göre mantıklı. Verilmiş, ayrıntılar yukarıda ve öteye gidiyor ama çoğunlukla hikaye anlamlıdır. Aşk, hikaye fikrini SEVİYORUM. Fallen'in tarihi, insanların onları nasıl gördüğü ve en önemlisi, gizemli cinayetlerin ardındaki akıl yürütme. Harika fikirler ve yazı, daha sonra bir duşa ihtiyacım olduğunu hissetsem bile! :)

Bu, antik çağlardan kalan eski Yunanistan'ın en ünlü trajik üçlemesidir. "Agamemnon", Truva savaşından yeni dönen Kral Agamemnon'un karısı Clytemnestra ve kardeşi (karısıyla bir ilişkisi olan ve tahtı canlandıran) elinde hain cinayetle uğraşıyor. "Kurtuluş Taşıyıcıları", Clytemnestra'ya tek oğlu Orestes'in elindeki babasının ölümünün intikamını alan karmik ve kanlı bir çile getiriyor. "Eumenides", Orestes ile "kürklü" uçuştan, "suçu" için Olympus tanrılarından merhamet ve merhamet için cazip ve matrisid'in affedilmez günahı için adaleti cehennem gibi olan şeytan benzeri yaratıklarla uğraşır. ." Böyle açıklamalarla büyüleyici bir okuma, gerçekleşmeyen sahneleri hayal edemez. Şiddetle tavsiye edilir!

An indulgence into some easy chick fiction after some heavy reads, which proved chicky enough but still rather enjoyable. Especially after having been in Venice, De Blasi's descriptions of the city readily transport you to the city and reveal a side quite different from that most tourists experience

Un puñado de escritores -o aspirantes a escritores- acuden, tras leer un anuncio en la prensa, a un retiro para artistas, donde se supone que darán rienda suelta a su imaginación. Esta colonia de escritores resulta ser un lugar aislado del mundo, donde la comida y la electricidad son bienes escasos. En estas precarias condiciones los protagonistas comenzarán a escribir historias bizarras y terroríficas, lo que les convertirá en héroes de una especie de reality show. --- Una historia rara donde las haya. Parte de un argumento muy interesante, pero a mi modo de ver la parte de la "reclusión" está un pelo forzada, se repiten y repiten elementos. Las historias entrelazadas de los personajes en cambio, me han sorprendido. Palahniuk tiene una imaginación desbordante, escribe como quiere, y tiene ganas de provocar y escandalizar a más no poder, pero aún así escribe muy bien e introduce ideas muy interesantes... La pega es que al principio se me hizo muy lento, y al final un pelo largo, sobretodo por la repetición de las situaciones en el teatro. Pero no creo que deje indiferente.

** spoiler alert ** ”Embers” is very well written plotwise, it was easy to follow the different plotlines with the arsonist, DAGR and the demonic possesion, even if I had some issues with what happened, at least I got what happened. Some UF can get very confusing in that respect and you end up just going along with events that you don't really understand because you are invested in the characters and you're just happy they survived. (example, the latest Kate Daniels book). Here, the problem is that you don't actually care if Anya and the rest make it... It's not that Anya is unlikable, on the contrary, she could have been an interesting UF heroine. But the writing is just too... bland I guess would be the word. I can't even put my finger on why it isn't working, but ”Embers” didn't evoke one single feeling when I read it. No, that's actually not true, I experienced very mild surprise when Anya out of the blue slept with the bad guy. And when not even such a turn of event made me feel more, you know something's missing. I read ”The Hob's Bargain" by Patricia Briggs a while ago and in literally the first ten pages she managed to break my heart over characters that I only just started to read about. I will still read the next one in the series, because I already bought it and while this wasn't the best read I've had, I wasn't bored out of my head. Sparky was an original idea that I enjoyed and I'm curious to see if she manages to turn computer geek Brian into a proper UF hero/love interest. Poor guy was in a come for most of this book while his girl was getting it on with the far more charismatic baddie.

My daughter Nicola suggested that this would be a welcome birthday present for me. I can't imagine why - it is about a teenage boy going to sea as a junior officer in the Merchant Navy in the 1950s. Wait! That sounds familiar! When I was only a couple of chapters in, already the nostalgia is flowing, the lamps were swinging and the weevils were popping out of the hard tack. Excellent. A very satisfying read for me because it brought so much back. But also I think it would be a good book for people without those experiences. It is entertaining and paints a good picture of a life which has sadly, along with most of Britain's merchant fleet, passed into history.
