I read this book in one sitting. Not sure if this is really a testament to the author herself so much as my love of Jane Austen's original characters and story. The most interesting parts for me were Austen's original dialogue. Would recommend to fans of Pride and Prejudice but don't think the book stands on it's own without Austen's original backdrop.

Sadly, Horwitz's accounts of America's ugly Jacksonian streak are all too predictable. I learned a lot of basic civil war history that I'd never bothered to take much interest in before...but ultimately there's little in the way of surprise or fresh insight in Horwitz's Borat-like tour of the modern American south.

A great book about a group of judges in jail who have court hearings in jail to handle prisoner disputes. Additionally, the are using a lawyer as a messenger to the outside to mail out extortion letters to unsuspecting gay men, threating to expose them.
