The Phantom Tollbooth is a great book. I was just introduced to this book, I didn't read it as a child or grow up with it. But, I still really enjoyed it. I thought it was so clever and wasn't too childish. I did grow up reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (and the lesser known Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator), which I always liked, but I thought The Phantom Tollbooth was less cutesy. I really appreciated the use of overused and cliche phrases in the kingdom, its inhabitants, and their speech. I thought the whole book was really clever and I loved following Milo through Wisdom. I would recommend this book to anyone, no matter their age. It's really not just a kid's book. This was the first book by Norton Juster I've read, and I'd very much like to read other books by him. His writing style was very flowing, with wonderful language throughout.

Cute. Very Aunt Dimity-esque.
