Super interesting on so many levels!

I really enjoyed this book. It left me wanting more and wondering of the adventures of Fanny and Sue while they were in California. It was great!

The pirate life is not as interesting or as appealing as Hollywood portrays it. The pirate life was hard. Most pirates were people who couldn't make a living any other way. Life on board regular ships was horrible, brutal, dangerous, and unhealthy. Life on board pirate ships was actually better in some ways. This was a sad story. It portrayed the good and bad of pirate life. Almost to a man, most pirates came to a sad end, and it is certainly no different with Captain Kidd, although it is questionable whether he was really a pirate at all. Captain Kidd's story seemed so typical of someone from a reactive generation (Cavalier) who could not get a break.
