Dave Willis' 'Lexical Syllabus' was originally going to be called 'The Lexical Approach', but someone else beat him to it. I am glad it happened this way round, as both books benefit. Full of insightful facts and clear guidance derived from experience, Willis' book provides both a clear rationale for placing lexis at the centre of language teaching and a practical approach to the problem of designing a lexical syllabus. This book is now unfortunately out of print. However, you can see why a lot of people still have not caught up with Dave Willis by downloading your own copy from here.

The premise was so interesting and that's what attracted me to the story - Dragons that manifest as humans - exciting stuff, but unfortunately, it turned out to be just okay. I feel like the story could almost have been written in half the length. There was a lot of internal dialog that summarized the same feelings/thoughts over and over again. That just annoyed me a little and I found I was able to skip entire paragraphs and still not miss out on the plot. I also coulnd't help noticing the several scenes that were so similar to another really popular human-and-supernatural-creature love story. But I have to say I liked the ending. It was inevitable and I was thinking I might read the second book, until I read the summary of #2. If Will has his memory swiped, then I don't think I have the patience to go through that book. It could have gone in a different direction, for me.

Wow. What a wild ride that was into the fictional future. Orwell's amazing sense of creativity and complex theory of government and man's relationship to government is startling. The book makes you consider the question of reality and notion of truth vs propaganda. A compelling read.

I have no words. I loved this. I have so much work to do, but I don't want any of it. I want to sit down on my bed with my kindle and complete the series right now. I love D.J. I love how imperfect and awkward her life is. The ending is not completely happy, just hopeful. Her family isn't perfect, they don't get along always, but when they do, those are moments to be treasured. I laughed while reading this. I cried every now and then. When I picked this up, I assumed it would be one big hilarious story. It was so much more. I read it all in one sitting, unable to put it down. I read each and every word, because it was all simply amazing. Usually I half skim through redundant parts in books because I'm an impatient person, I didn't do that for this. I was able to answer each and every trivia question about this book because of how amazing and intriguing and attention-grabbing it was. I LOVE THIS BOOK.
