About an autistic 15 year-old boy who attempts to solve the mystery of the murder of his neighbor's dog. This book really gives great insight into how people with autism think and what causes them to exhibit behaviors that make no sense most people. Plus it's an entertaining, well written story.

Taslima is a Bangladeshi writer. Overall the social level in Bangladesh is still Orthodox. Taslima tried to pour her mind in that novel & I feel she succeeded. She tried to show the worse condition of minorities i.e. Hindus in Bangladesh in this book through the story of Bengali Hindu Family. Her novel depicts the social structure of Bangladesh. Good Book

While the Rwandan genocide differed greatly from the Holocaust, the sense of separation, extremism, and fear are clearly palpable through Gourevitch’s interviews in a way that eerily echoes the past. It’s through this accessibility that we see how little has changed since those nationalistically turbulent days, and through this narrative, we can clearly see the cautionary signs of what we might expect as Darfur continues to deteriorate.

A novel set in a boys' reformatory in the early 1960's is not generally in my preferred reading genre but I'm glad I gave this one a read. By noting that the setting is a boys' horse ranch/reform school one would naturally expect that there is tragedy, drama, and wicked villains (and there is) but there is also love, courage, friendship, and humanity aplenty. The author's writing style is reminiscent of one of my all-time favorites Wallace Stegner, with a side dose of Hemingwayesque terseness and simplicity that really adds to the story. This would make a great movie by the Coen Brothers! Urge anyone who laments the lack of decent contemporrary fiction (and I'm one) to hunt this onw down and read!
