This book includes one of my favorite opening paragraphs in all of literature.

there were a number of times i couldn't help but feel like the information provided about the great big buffalo was superfluous. take for example reproduction, gonads, and the like. really? really? i will permanently have the image of a bull buffalo mounted on a cow, and the bull's back hooves popping off the ground in his moment of animalistic ecstasy. and now you will too! i expected more about the quest, one man's efforts to legally hunt a buffalo and his experience. what i got was a bit of a hodge-podge about buffalos writ large, hunting, skinning, out doorsiness, and a smattering of unnecessary questionable language. (f-word avoiders beware.) it ran the full spectrum, and notably the section on native americans and how they hunted buffalo was intriguing, along with the oldest examples of buffalo hunters. that said, the book was still just a touch above average overall. sportsmen or buffalo enthusiasts might think it worthy of a four, but i loves to eat me some buffalo and getting in touch with nature - and i say three!

Good. Enjoyable....worth a read....Better than the musical (although that isn't saying very much). Not as good as Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, but still okay. The political aspect adds a lot.

If one reads this and does not enjoy the humor and variety of characters than they should give up trying to enjoy English literature at all. Amazing is probably the best word to describe this book. The humor and wit is unending!
