I have not doubt this book served as inspiration for many self-help books. The premise is simple: you are what you think. I would have loved some research, but I imagine that was not that common on the early 20th century

One of the best children's books I ever read.

I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. The book is really about the relationship that develops between Holling and his teacher. It's set amidst the backdrop of the 1960s and the Vietnam War. There are some very moving moments in this book, but not in an over-the-top or melodramatic way.
